Qualifications for Internship Training Program
Care and Counseling Center of Georgia

Students are welcome to apply for internship in our agency with the understanding that we are a fee-for-service entity. Students and trainees, or their graduate programs, are obligated to pay for supervision and program fees while enrolled in the internship program. The program requires a minimum commitment of one year, which is renewable and includes the following training:

  • Counseling clients in CCCG’s Low-Cost Clinic
  • 10 hours/month of supervision in tandem, group, and case conference formats
  • Minimum client load of 10 hours/weekly, drawn from child, adolescent, adult, couples, family, group, and alcohol/drug clientele

Minimum requirements for application:

  • Enrollment in a master’s degree program leading to licensure in the mental health field
  • Completion of pre-practicum in a graduate training program or equivalent in master’s level program coursework
  • Coursework must include a course in psychopathology and theories of personality/psychotherapy
  • Six hours of telemental health training (usually completed via continuing education workshop)
  • Demonstrated appreciation for cultural diversity and ethical practice
  • Fluency in English

  • Personal experience in counseling/psychotherapy

Selected candidates will then have a face-to-face interview, which will include focus on the demonstration of appropriate social and professional skills needed to work effectively in an outpatient mental health counseling setting.
