Play Therapy for Children
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy is a way children process issues in their lives in a natural, developmentally appropriate way. A child’s play can reveal:
- What the child has experienced
- The child’s feelings or reactions
- What the child needs in his/her life
- The child’s self-concept
Children use play to communicate, express their feelings, and solve problems. In this, they have a sense of control and safety, and they use their imagination and thoughts to cope with such issues as grief, abuse, or behavioral difficulties.
